Children under 9 months are not allowed in the Grands Bains for health reasons related to the physico-chemical properties of the spring water. Children aged 9 months to 35 months are only allowed access in the morning, with entry before 12 noon. The duration of the visit is limited to a maximum of 2 hours, in order to respect the rhythm of toddlers. Why is a shower mandatory before any treatment?
Showering is mandatory before any treatment to ensure optimal hygiene, by eliminating sweat, impurities and bacteria. This allows products to penetrate the skin better, maximizing their benefits. It also helps eliminate residual chlorine after swimming, which can dry out and irritate the skin. What's more, for customers who have been exercising, a shower is essential to eliminate accumulated sweat and toxins, preparing the skin to receive treatments in the best possible conditions.

L'eau des Grands Bains
Where does the water in the Grands Bains come from?
The water in the Grands Bains is naturally warm and comes from the infiltration of surface water into the ground, which heats up on contact with an underground magma structure to gush out at 44°C.
Is the water treated?
Pool water is treated in accordance with ARS (Agence Régionale de Santé) regulations and standards for aquatic establishments open to the public.
Only the water in the hydromassage baths in the treatment area is untreated and comes directly from the natural spring.
Why does the color of the water vary?
As the water is naturally warm, the color of the water at Les Grands Bains varies throughout the year. This variation is explained by a chemical reaction whose variables are the minerals contained in the water, the chlorine content and the rate of water renewal. The hot water in the Grands Bains is produced by heating surface water underground. As the water infiltrates the subsoil, it becomes loaded with minerals. This load can vary according to precipitation (rain, snow). As a result, water is "tinted" by minerals, never exactly the same color. The chemical reaction between certain minerals and chlorine also affects water color. The chlorine level in the water is adjusted daily to eliminate health risks. Finally, the rate of water renewal has an impact on color: during filtration, the water passes through sand, which retains certain minerals. The more water is renewed, the less it is filtered: the greater the impact of minerals on color. Ponds depend on different filtration systems, so sometimes they don't have the same color. Whatever the color of the water, it is checked daily before opening. There is no health risk involved.
